Hello! I’m a journalist, writer and editor based in Washington, DC. (🗣️ last name like Dare. It is 🇱🇧.)

I currently work as a director on Axios’ editorial team, where I’m planning, leading and shaping daily and long-term coverage across our products, teams and platforms. I report directly to our editor-in-chief. Some highlights from my time at Axios:

  • Coordinating our newsroom-wide 2024 election coverage across our National, Local and Pro teams

  • Contribute to strategy for producing, optimizing and delivering excellent journalism across Axios’ platforms

  • Experiment with new tools including live blogs

  • Edit for web and newsletters, including the flagship AM/PM newsletters

  • Manage editors and reporters on the breaking news team

I previously worked as a digital editor at CNN Politics, primarily focused on general assignment, breaking news and occasional features and analysis.

  • Before that, I lived in New York and worked as senior editor at NowThis, where I helped launch and develop written products at the mobile-first startup known for reaching young people, plus worked on the video and social teams. I’ve also worked at CNBC.

My background includes news, politics, business and culture, and I’ve worked across formats including text, video and social media. I have experience managing teams, coverage plans and assignments. I’ve worked at a newspaper, magazine, broadcast companies and start-ups — AKA I’ve seen it all. 😎

My essays and features have been published at publications including Lapham’s Quarterly, Racked, HuffPost, CityLab, The Daily Beast and The Week.

I value mentorship inside and outside the newsroom and volunteered with the premiere writing organization for teenagers in New York City, Girls Write Now, between 2018-2022. I previously authored a semi-regular newsletter about women’s media called Clipped, and I’m currently pursuing a new project about homeownership & housing called Drill Bits. Finally, I’m working on a memoir project about my late mother, Jane, her long journey with multiple sclerosis and its impact on our family; I care a lot about disability rights and home health care.

I studied and started my career as a reporter in the Midwest, first in Pittsburgh and then at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis. (It took moving to Minneapolis to understand Pittsburgh is midwestern.) I grew up outside of Philadelphia, and yes, I love Wawa.
